Donald Trump will announce his presidential bid on Friday, the day before the Democratic National Convention, according to a senior White House official.
The announcement marks Trump’s second in as many weeks and his first since he said on the campaign trail he would not seek the Republican nomination.
“The president has been committed to a long-term campaign and is determined to make a successful one,” the official said.
The official said Trump will speak on his plans for the campaign and his administration at the White House on Friday afternoon.
The White House has yet to confirm details of the announcement.
Trump will speak at the event in Philadelphia at 3 p.m., the official added.
The Republican National Convention will take place in Philadelphia in July.
